Shahriyar Asgarov named new head coach of Lankaran basketball team

Shahriyar Asgarov will take over as the new head coach of the Lankaran basketball team, the specialist confirmed in an exclusive statement to AzB.az.

Outlining his ambitions with the new club, Asgarov emphasized their target for promotion:

"Six teams are already confirmed for Division II, and our main goal for next season is to work hard and lead Lankaran to the Super League. While several external factors come into play, as far as on-court performance is concerned, I will give everything I have."

Asgarov also highlighted the growing competitiveness in domestic basketball and praised Azerbaijani clubs competing on the European stage:

"Competition among the top four Super League clubs will be exceptionally strong. Alongside LANDAU Lions, Sabah, and Neftchi, I would also include Ordu. Ganja is also in great form this year. It is very gratifying to see four Azerbaijani clubs competing in European competitions. Neftchi's recent victory was particularly thrilling for us, and we wish all our teams success. Facing major European clubs will significantly boost the promotion of Azerbaijani basketball. My biggest wish is to see full stands. Wins will come, but we should not criticize our teams for losses, as we are still at the beginning of this journey."

Shahriyar Asgarov served as the head coach of Guba last season.
